FBI and NSA have built the core "1984" machine that grants The Party totalitarian dominance. This is not fiction. The FBI-NSA machine breaks privacy; it defeats all personal security. Considered tactically, XKeyscore's data piracy crawlers go everywhere and support just about anything.
Without Edward Snowden these machines would have remained hidden.
Going forward a public discussion has emerged. We begin to see things. The information in the FBI-NSA system can be used for inductrial espionage, to sabotage companies, to carry out multimillion dollar crimes, to dump personal information through "soft" leaks, to drive blackmail, or to carry out assassinations.
Most likely, all of the above.

It won't take long for the sociopaths and psychopaths in our American empire to focus in on these data. FBI collects domestic data and copies it along the way for multiple uses. We know that as fact. Anonymous grabbed part of this data stream off a FBI Special Agent's laptop and found personal information on 12 million people. Assume the worst.
What we owe Snowden, if nothing else, is getting a chance to stop this thing.
He gave an interview to Hubert Seipel of NDR that played on ADR public television in Germany. Access to the video from outside German is blocked. One reason: Snowden explains where the Obama Administration's public statements construct lies.
