Giving up.
Jimmy LaSalvia co-founded GOProud in 2009 with Chris Barron. Here's Jimmy's statement:
"Today, I joined the ranks of unaffiliated voters. I am every bit as conservative as I’ve always been, but I just can’t bring myself to carry the Republican label any longer. ....A tweet to end all political tweets:The other reason I am leaving is the tolerance of bigotry in the GOP. The current leadership lacks the courage to stand up to it – I’m not sure they ever will."
"It's time to focus my energy to help make our country better instead of trying to fix a dysfunctional political party whose days are numbered."— Jimmy LaSalvia (@JimmyLaSalvia) January 13, 2014
It doesn't work trying to carry a banner as a "gay Republican." It's not clear what he thinks defines the word "conservative."
Finally... we found what triggered this. Agema at RNC offered simple commentary: “Common sense in Russia!” referring to the "homosexual propaganda" statute:
.@GOP member @DaveAgema sides with brutal dictator. Unbelievable. cc: @Reince pic.twitter.com/yNb2GoU7txAfter co-founding GOProud in 2009, you have think that effort is over. More below the orange muffin:— Jimmy LaSalvia (@JimmyLaSalvia) January 11, 2014
